A Walking Tour of historic Mattapoisett Village starts at the Mattapoisett Historical Society at 5 Church St. on Aug. 13 at 2 p.m.

Learn from Seth Mendell about historic buildings, the electric rail, the saltworks on Goodspeed’s Island, the Charles King Mansion at the mouth of the river and “The Dude Special.”

Visualize the building of whale ships in the park and how the British attempted to burn the shipyards during the War or 1812. The duration of the walk is approximately one hour and 15 minutes. This event is free for members and $5 for non-members.
