Town Administrator discusses bylaw review

Jan 30, 2015

Town Administrator Michael McCue is looking into a professional review of Rochester’s general and zoning bylaws.

Fifty years of adding and amending bylaws to the town books has left them in need of some organization. McCue said some bylaws are repetitive and contradictory and need a “wholesale” review.

“Some of it is in a state of disarray,” he said.

McCue consulted with other town administrators in the state and was directed to the New York-based company Municipal Code, a firm that specializes in reviewing and organizing bylaws.

The project is in the preliminary stages as McCue gets a quote from the company. There is no funding designated for a review at this time.
