Town of Marion seeking artists for 2025 exhibitions
MARION — The town of Marion is seeking community members and artists to submit their work for the slate of art exhibitions to be displayed at the Marion Council on Aging/Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center in 2025.
Anyone interested — professionals, amateurs and newcomers to displaying art — should contact Council on Aging Director Karen Gregory at 508-748-3570.
There is no cost for artists and no residency requirement to display work. The sole requirement is that the works fall within the exhibition’s monthly themes.
January’s theme is "Stories Behind Images," in which each work of art is accompanied by a written piece describing its inspiration. February is the youth show, where artists ages 5 to 18 can submit work. March is "Welcome Spring" with pieces inspired by springtime. April’s theme is animals.
May will feature the Bourne-Wareham Art Association. June’s theme is mixed media and fabric arts. July’s theme is "Seaside," in which artists depict what it means to live near the ocean. August will feature the "Monday Morning Painters."
September will feature the "Canalside Artists." October’s theme is “Your Hometown” featuring images of the South Coast region. November’s theme is photography. December’s theme is “ “Holiday Smalls,” featuring works with a maximum size of 11” x 14”.
Hanging of shows and collection of artwork from the past month's exhibit will take place on the first Thursday of the month at 9 a.m.
"This is an incredible opportunity to showcase your creativity and contribute to a vibrant and diverse collection,” Gregory said according to a news release from the town of Marion. “Whether you're an established artist or a first-time exhibitor, we encourage you to share your works."
