Next week, athletes will have the opportunity to learn or hone track and field skills.

Coaches at Old Rochester Regional High School and Wareham High School have organized a track and field clinic for students in grades 6 through 12 at ORR High School from Aug. 12 -17. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day. Wareham Girls Track Coach Christopher Gardner and ORR Girls Track Coach Cindy Tilden will be running the clinic.

Instructors from Foxboro and Holy Cross College will join them. This is the first time a school will host a summer track clinic.

“We’re trying to show kids that track isn’t just running three miles. There are distance events, sure, but there are also sprints, the long jump, high jump,” Gardner said. “There’s something for everyone. Students can try any of the events until they find one they enjoy.”
