Although the long-standing teen wharf dances in Mattapoisett have been canceled for the rest of the summer, adults will have their turn on Friday, Aug. 14.

The Mattapoisett Track Club is sponsoring a “flashback” dance, which Selectmen approved at their Thursday night meeting.

Mary Ann Amoruso said adults have often asked for their own seaside dance. Plus, they should require less monitoring than teens.

“I don’t think you’ll be swimming in right there like the kids have tried,” said Amoruso.

The dance will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. and is for ages 18 and up. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance at The Slip, The Inn at Shipyard Park, Nick’s Pizza and Matt’s Blackboard. They can also be purchased at the dance.
