Tri-town dancers to take part in 'The Nutcracker'
A large group of tri-town dancers will be featured in the upcoming production “The Nutcracker” from the New Bedford Ballet. The show will run on the weekends of Dec. 3-4 and Dec. 9-11. The Saturday and Sunday shows will each have a 1:30 p.m. show and a 3 p.m. show. The Friday, Dec. 9 show will have a 6:30 p.m. show and an 8 p.m. show.
The classic Christmas tale will take on a local twist, as it’s set in the 1850s, which was New Bedford’s historic whaling era.
The show is set to Tchaikovsky’s score and follows Mary through a night of adventure. This adaptation was created by Rebecca Waskiel-Marchesseault, the director of the New Bedford Ballet.
Tri-town dancers involved in the production are Emma Gabriel (Mattapoisett), Grayson Lord (Mattapoisett), Camryn McNamara (Mattapoisett), Ari Sweet (Marion), Natalie Nilson (Marion), Madaleine Hunt (Mattapoisett), Elizabeth Bungert (Mattapoisett), Sabrina Cunningham (Mattapoisett), Meredith Davignon (Mattapoisett), Katie Nilson (Marion), Mia Hurley (Mattapoisett), Anne Murray (Marion) and Summer Richardson (Marion).
Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $7 for seniors, students and children. Group rates for non-profit organizations are available. All proceeds from the show support the New Bedford Ballet Foundation.
