Aug 12, 2021

The Tri-Town had 27 new cases of covid in the week leading up to Aug. 12 — the most in a single week since late April — with the majority of the cases coming from Rochester.

Of the 27, three cases came from Marion, seven from Mattapoisett and 17 from Rochester, according to state covid data.

The local uptick reflects a national trend as the country has seen a rise in the more contagious delta variant of the virus.

Vaccination rates increased slightly across all three towns during the week.

76% of Marion and Mattapoisett residents are fully vaccinated for covid, up 1% for Marion. In Rochester 57% are fully vaccinated, holding steady from last week.

84% of Marion and Mattapoisett residents and 63% of Rochester residents have had one dose of a covid vaccine, as a 1% increase was seen across the board.

State covid data is released every Thursday.
