Tri-Town sees 28 new covid cases, highest spike of summer

The Tri-Town had 28 new cases of covid in the week leading up to Aug. 26 — the most in a single week since late April.

Of the 28 new cases, 10 came from Marion, 10 from Mattapoisett and eight from Rochester, according to state covid data.

The Tri-Town has now had over 20 new covid cases in each of the last four weeks.

Vaccination rates increased slightly across all three towns during the week.

In Marion, vaccination rates increased by 1% for both the fully vaccinated and for those who have received at least one dose, bringing them to 77% and 85% respectively.

For Mattapoisett the fully vaccinated percentage remained flat at 77% but the single dose percentage increased to 84%.

Rochester’s vaccination rates remained the same from last week with 58% fully vaccinated and 64% with at least one shot.
