Tri-town state general election results

More than half of registered voters in the tri-town cast ballots in Tuesday's election and a majority in all three towns favored Republican Charlie Baker over Democrat and former Attorney General Martha Coakley.

Baker, a former health care CEO, garnered 1,293 votes in Marion, while Coakley received 925 votes. Evan Falchuk of the United Independent Party received 65 votes.

Massachusetts voters sent incumbent Democrat Edward Markey back to the U.S. Senate. In Marion, he received 1,184 votes to Republican Brian Herr’s 1,077.

U.S. Rep. Richard Keating (D-Bourne) earned 1,168 votes to Republican challenger John Chapman's 1,094 voters.

Voters across the 10th Bristol District returned state Rep. Bill Straus (D-Mattapoisett) to the House of Representatives as 8,648 voters cast ballots ballots for him. Challenger and Republican candidate Bill Soares received 4,535 votes.

In Rochester, 1,338 residents cast ballots for Baker, while Coakley received 738 votes. In contrast to Marion, Rochester residents favored Herr, who netted 1,151 votes to Markey’s 999 votes in the U.S. Senate race. Seventy-five voters cast ballots for Falchuck.

In the Attorney General’s race, Republican John Miller earned 1,179 votes to Democrat Maura Healey’s 959.

Mattapoisett residents cast 1,620 votes for Baker and 1,174 for Coakley. While they favored a Republican governor, residents cast 1,589 votes for Markey and 1,269 for Herr in the U.S. Senate race.
