Trick or treaters visit Ned’s Point Lighthouse

Nov 1, 2019

MATTAPOISETT — Flotilla 63 opened the door to the  Ned’s Point Lighthouse for some belated trick or treating on Friday afternoon, Nov. 1.

Costumed children were met by Joe Dawicki, a.k.a “Gray Mustache the Pirate.” Dawicki opened up a treasure chest filled with Halloween candy, nautical themed coloring books, and whistles designed to help paddlers and sailors in need of assistance.

The Flotilla’s Vice Commander Jane Ulewicz prepared hot chocolate and apple cider for guests, and flotilla members also set up an informational stand with books and pamphlets on everything from water safety to environmental issues.

Flotilla members said the lighthouse will also be open for a Christmas event on Dec. 21. Dawicki will trade in his pirate costume for a santa suit and once again welcome children and adults to Ned’s Point.
