Tropical storm brings wind gusts, rain

Hermine is bringing wind gusts and high seas to the South Coast as the storm moves through the area, according to the National Weather Service. At 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning the storm was approximately 250 miles off the coast of Nantucket and heading north.

A tropical storm warning is in effect for the area throughout Monday with 25 to 35 mph winds and gusts of up to 40 mph.

Scattered showers are predicted throughout the day with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. Seas will be around five feet, building 10 to 15 feet near shore along the South Coast though no storm surge is predicted.

The windy weather continues into the evening, but will lessen after midnight. Breezy weather will persist through the beginning of the week.
