Two youth hockey teams take home championships

The Gaetway Gladiator Squirts closed out the season with a dramatic win over Whitman-Hanson-Kingston in the championship game of the Yankee Conference on Saturday. The Gladiators went down 4-0 with less than a minute left in the second period. However, before the period was over the Gladiators would start their comeback. Tommy Clavell scored with seven seconds left to make the score 4-1. Ben Hebbel scored early in the second to bring the Gladiators within two. Next, Brayden Hathon scored from the blue line to make the score 4-3. Brayden Cannon tied the game 4-4 and Hebbel added two more to make the final score 6-5. The Gladiators scored all six goals in under 10 minutes.

The Pee Wees finished out their impressive single-loss season with a Yankee Championship on Sunday. The Gladiators beat the Coastal Stars 6-0 to take home the win. Nathan Ribeiro scored four times to lead the offense. Also adding goals were Ty Rebeiro and Matthew Paling. Goaltender Ryker King secured the shutout.
