The Buzzard’s Bay Coalition has events planned in the Tri-town. Whether it’s a Thanksgiving 5k or a more leisurely walk through the woods, there are plenty of ways to get out in nature.

On Sunday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m., join a guided hike in Tinkhamtown Woodlands. The habitats at Tinkhamtown Woodlands shift as attendees wander from the damp freshwater wetlands near the Woodcock Preserve to the drier, sandy soils and pines on the upland trail. It’s a snapshot of the wide diversity of habitats that the Mattapoisett River Reserve protects.

On Sunday, Nov. 20, at 9 a.m., join the coalition for a Pre-Thanksgiving 5k at The Bogs in Mattapoisett. They encourage and appreciate any efforts to dress up in the spirit of the activity. In addition, the coalition will be accepting donations of non-perishables for a local food pantry.

The Bogs is a refuge for a diverse array of wildlife, including birds, deer, and coyotes. In fall and winter, ducks and geese visit to feed in shallow waters.
