Upcoming Fourth of July events

Marion and Mattapoisett are celebrating Independence Day with fireworks, parades and more as the Fourth of July approaches. Join in on the annual festivities on Saturday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 4.

Marion will host its annual fireworks display starting at dusk at Silvershell Beach on Saturday, July 1.

Guests should arrive no later than 7 p.m. In the event of rain, the fireworks will be held on Friday, July 7. 

No parking will be allowed on the south side of Lewis Street between Front Street and Converse Road. For those located west of Front Street, guests parking on side streets can park facing Converse Road. 

For those located east of Front Street, guests parking on side streets can park facing Water Street. 

The exception is for vehicles on Vine Street, which should face west toward Front Street. Handicap parking will be available at the beach.

The Annual Independence Day Parade in Marion will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4 in the ball field behind the Marion Town House and adjacent to the Sippican School.

Mattapoisett will host its annual July Fourth Road Race beginning at 9 a.m on Tuesday, July 4 starting at Shipyard Park. The four-mile course proceeds through Mattapoisett Village, loops around Neds Point and finishes back at Shipyard Park.
