Update: Rochester Police make arrest following break-ins
Rochester Police arrested Kelly Sorelle of Freetown on Thursday in connection with a recent run of break-ins.
Police believe Sorelle entered a home on Benson Road through a window, setting off the alarm and causing her to flee before officers arrived. As such, nothing was stolen from the house.
Rochester Police took Sorelle into custody in conjunction with Freetown Police.
The suspect is charged with breaking and entering, trespassing and destruction of property. Police are now looking to link Sorelle to other break-ins.
On Wednesday, the department issued a warning to residents about recent breaks into houses, out buildings, vehicles and a utility trailer. Break-ins have occurred during both the day and at night.
Breaks were made into homes in the 300 and 400 blocks of High Street as well as a home on Pierce Street, Pine Street and the 600 block of County Road. Along with recent house breaks, Rochester Police have also responded to a trailer and boat being broken into.
Items taken in the breaks include items such as currency, jewelry, power tools and electronics.
Police Chief Paul Magee praised the work of his officers on the case.
"The patrol staff has been working hard to solve these cases. They are committed to catching the people responsible" said Magee.
He also said cooperation between departments has been crucial.
"Because Rochester, Freetown, and the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department work together so well, cases like these get solved."
Rochester Police are asking the public to keep an extra eye out and report suspicious persons and cars immediately by dialing 911. Anyone with information on the thefts is urged to contact the Rochester Police at 508-763-5112.
