Updated: Fireworks to light up Silvershell Beach

Update: The Silvershell Beach fireworks display has been postponed to Sunday, July 7 around dusk due to “unfavorable weather conditions,” according to the town of Marion.
MARION — With the summer heating up and Independence Day quickly approaching, Silvershell beach will soon be awash in reds, whites and blues of the town’s annual firework display on Saturday, July 6.
The show typically starts around dusk, according to Marion Executive Assistant Donna Hemphill. This year’s fireworks will start at 9 p.m.
Fireworks will not be the only sound to fill the air as the Marion town band will make its summer 2024 debut at 8 p.m. leading up to the fireworks show.
“We thank the hard work of the fireworks committee for fundraising for the event,” said Hemphill.
Parking will be available at Silvershell Beach and along roads in Marion Village. According to the Marion Police Department, residents living in Marion Village should ask their guests to arrive no later than 7 p.m. If parking west of Front Street, guests should park facing Converse Road; If parking east of Front Street, guests should park facing Water Street. Anyone parking on Vine Street should face toward Front Street.
No Parking will be allowed on the south side of Lewis Street between Front Street and Converse Road, according to the Marion Police Department.
