U.S. Ambassador lecture scheduled in Marion

The Sippican Historical Society and Elizabeth Taber Library will present a special lecture by Richard Morningstar, United States Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan, and his wife, Faith Morningstar on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Marion Music Hall.

The Ambassador’s lecture will focus on the issues of greatest interest in the relationship between the United States and Azerbaijan.  Mrs. Morningstar, a former board member of the democracy promotion and human rights group Freedom House, will speak about the Azerbaijani women's issues on which she is working.

The Ambassador was appointed by President Obama, and sworn in by Secretary of State Clinton on July 20, 2012.  Prior to his appointment, he was the Secretary of State’s Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy.

The Music Hall is located at 164 Front St.  Parking is available across the street at Island Wharf.  The presentation will be offered for free, though donations are accepted. No reservations are necessary.  For more information, please call the society at 508-748-1116.
