WITH VIDEO: Rochester fiddler shines in Wareham fiddle contest
Fiddle favorite Tiffany Rozenas, of Rochester, took home honors in the annual fiddlers contest held at Rowland Thatcher Hall in Wareham July 4. She and six other area fiddlers competed individually in three classes and then joined forces with their accompanists and teachers for several pieces in a fiddle jam to close out the morning affair.
The Rozenas family have been entertaining area fiddle aficionados for several years with her father Bronie and sister Hillary joining Tiffany in several venues.
Tiffany has been a regular performer at recent Common Fence Music Fiddlers and Fishermen events in Portsmouth, RI, and has traveled all over New England to compete in fiddle contests including the New England Fiddle Contest, New Hampshire Highland Games Fiddle Contest, Stark Fiddle Contest, East Benton Fiddle Contest, New Boston Fiddle Contest, Meetinghouse Park Fiddle Contest and Rochester Country Fair Fiddle Contest.
She also has an album titled "It's About Time", and has been nominated for Motif Magazine's Celtic act of the year in the Spring of 2009.
In Monday’s event, her most delightful activity may have been to encourage the youngest contest winner, 11-year old Sophie Gardner of Plympton, to step forward and show her stuff during the all-players fiddle jam at the conclusion of the event.
