Walk, discussion about Point Road Memorial Forest to be held June 3

May 21, 2012

The Advisory Committee for the Point Road Memorial Forest will hold an informal talk about the history of the area on June 3 at 4 p.m.

The Point Road Memorial Forest is the smallest of six cemeteries in Marion, and is the only one limited to cremated remains.

In 1994, the Stone Family donated two acres to the Town of Marion for a public cemetery located off Point Road adjacent to the Blankenship Cemetery.

There will be brochures at the site as well as at the Department of Public Works, which will explain in detail the genesis of the cemetery and the burial procedure.
