MATTAPOISETT — Catch a summer sunset, picnic in the park , enjoy fresh local oysters and listen to music with an event hosted by the Mattapoisett Museum and Mattapoisett Land Trust.

“The Great Community Picnic” will be Thursday, Aug. 1 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Munro Preserve adjacent to the town wharf.

Mattapoisett Land Trust and Mattapoisett Museum will provide tables, chairs and tablecloths. Picnic attendees should bring their own food, utensils and plates. Attendees are also invited to creatively transform their tables with flowers, napkins and more.

Music during the “festive memorable evening” will be provided by Seth Asser and Gary Brown.

Tables are available for 4 diners at $160, 6 at $240, 8 at $320 and 10 at $400. A place at the community table is $40. Space is limited.
