MARION _ John Waterman has received the Sippican Historical Society’s annual award for dedicated service to Marion.

The award was presented at the society’s annual meeting held Friday, June 10.

Society president Will Tifft cited Waterman’s accomplishments on behalf of the town. 

Those efforts, Tifft said, included his involvement with an enrollment study of Sippican School; digitization of town records; development of a comprehensive wastewater management plan; work on the Capital Improvement and Finance committees; and a leadership role in the Town House restoration, among other projects. 

Waterman served on the Marion Select Board for a term before opting not to seek reelection this year.
