YMCA offers new programs at Sippican School
The Gleason YMCA will offer a new before school program and an after school program at Sippican School. The programs combines’ academics with play and offers a safe environment for youth who would otherwise be left unsupervised.
“The combination of enrichment and extended learning opportunities is essential to increasing children’s success in school,” said Kathleen Treglia, executive director of education for YMCA Southcoast. “Studies show participation in out of school time school programs helps boost school attendance and academic performance and reduces gaps in academic achievement among children from disadvantaged households.”
Children will receive help with homework and can also explore after school activities including arts, music, literacy, physical activity and more. Financial assistance is available to those in need.
The program begins the first day of school starting at 7 a.m. to the start of school and after school from dismissal until 6 p.m.
