Youths honored for hockey accomplishments
Hockey Unlimited honored three young players at the end of the program’s 49th season.
Mason Taft of Marion earned the “Most Improved Player Award” for his hard work and dedication.
“For several years, Mason was always intent on shooting and he was good at it,” said Hockey Unlimited Managing Director Tim Dyer. “But this season he became one our best passers…and it really elevated his game.”
Two other players, Jack DeMoranville of Rochester and Brenna Delaney of Plymouth, were presented with the Hutchinson Family Sportsmanship Award. The award is named after a long-time hockey family from Southeastern Massachusetts.
It’s awarded to players for “outstanding contributions to the program relative to sportsmanship and preserving the true spirit and ‘love of the game’ of hockey.”
Coach Jim Hutchinson praised both players.
“The sportsmanship and friendly spirit each brings to our organization clearly contributes to the culture we strive for with our young people, on and off the ice,” he said.
Hockey Unlimited teaches the fundamentals of ice hockey to local youths 9 to 14 years old. All sessions are held at the Travis Roy Rink inside Tabor Academy’s Fish Center for Health & Athletics.
