Patriotic parade rolls through Marion

Jul 4, 2013

Classic cars, elaborately decorated floats, and patriotic people took to the streets of Marion for the town's annual 4th of July parade.

The Sippican Historical Society's float was an "homage to the Sippican Hotel," said member Kim Teves. Designed by Joan DeRugeris, the trailer was complete with a croquet set, flappers playing tennis, and decorations reminiscent of the early 1900s.

The children of Lockheed Martin employees dressed up as clowns for the parade and handed out candy to kids along the parade route.

Chan Sousa, an employee at the company, said, "We enjoy doing this every year. They seem to like it!"
