WCTV Interruption of Service - Education Channel (Comcast 97, Verizon 28) and Public Channel (Verizon 30).
Last night (8-21-13) during the school committee meeting, the recording suffered a fault which resulted in a black screen and audio only. WCTV is investigating this issue but has no information right now on how it happened. The replay of the School Committee Meeting will be audio only but we hope to have more information on why it happened at a later date.
Update: (8-22-13) We found that one piece of equipment was generating a reference signal for video and not a video signal. Therefore, everyone at home saw black while video was seen on the device. We have added some more equipment to the school committee equipment to add more checks and balances to the process so that this specific issue doesn't happen again.
Verizon also experienced an interruption in service of the Public Channel (Verizon 30) last evening where the screen went black during the Summer of Love Summer Series. The audio was also only heard, but the customers of Comcast saw the LIVE Show just fine. WCTV is investigating the issue with Verizon Support Representatives.
Update: (8-22-13) Verizon fixed the black screen issue on the public channel without any explanation as to why the Summer of Love Live went black. WCTV will continue its investigation on how it may have happened.
We will update this brief as more information comes available.
