Will the real Matt D'Andrea please stand up?

It was hard to tell who the real Matt D'Andrea was as teachers and staff saluted (and surprised) the Old Hammondtown School principal by dressing as him for Halloween.

Thursday was D'Andrea's last day as principal. After more than five years at the school, he announced in August that he would be leaving to take the assistant superintendent position at Martha's Vineyard schools. Charles Egan, a retired principal, has taken over the position for the remainder of the school year.

At an all-school assembly Thursday morning, teachers danced to "Sweet Caroline" while holding up a photo of D'Andrea on a stick.

"Now that's the scariest costume I've ever seen," said D'Andrea.

He also told the assembly that he had enjoyed every second of his time at Old Hammondtown.
