Teresa Avila Costa, 38, of New Bedford died Wednesday, June 11 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Rose C. (Santos) and John J. Costa, Jr., she lived in Dartmouth and New Bedford for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth.

Teresa attended the Kennedy-Donovan Center. She had a lively personality and was a fashion diva. She loved her family, friends and school.

Survivors include her parents; her siblings, Wendy Frias and Joseph Costa, both of New Bedford, Melissa Edwards of Acushnet, Mary Green of Mattapoisett, and John Costa III of Dartmouth; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 14 in St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Kennedy-Donovan Center, 19 Hawthorn St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
