The Mattapoisett Water/Sewer Department announced on Wednesday that the mandatory water restriction for the town was lifted.

Beginning Aug. 7 and following an emergency meeting of the Water/Sewer Commissioners, outdoor watering was restricted in the town.

The restriction came after a well was closed down for repairs, and was a precaution to make sure there was enough water for the town in the event of a heat wave or large fire.
