Marion Police spread holiday cheer to kids
Members of the Marion Police Department joined forces with personnel from Justice Resource Institute (JRI) to spread a little holiday cheer to local children in the foster care system.
Members of the Marion Police Department collected and donated toys and items from wish lists provided by JRI.
Items were also donated at the annual Pancakes with Santa (sponsored by the Marion Police Brotherhood) and brought into the collection boxes that were located in the Marion Police Station lobby.
JRI has seen a major change in the ages of the children they serve in the past year. Approximately 71 percent of the local children they assist now range from infant to age 13. Most of these younger children, especially the infants and toddlers are being brought to them with nothing.
In a press release, the police department extended its thanks to the community for donating to kids in need.
