ORR athletes dial up fundraising efforts for booster club

Mar 13, 2015

With spring sports fast approaching (provided the snow melts at some point), student are getting on their phones to raise money for school athletics with the annual Old Rochester Regional Athletic Booster Club Phonathon.

The booster club's mission is to support ORR High School sports. Booster club purchases in the past have included equipment for weight rooms, field and court improvements, and supplies for the athletic trainer.
With cancellations due to snow, March 9, marked only the third night of the event, which is on selected days from March 2 to 18.
Even with the truncated schedule, more than 200 students have participated in the fundraiser and raised more than $12,000 through the community's generosity.
The booster club already put some of the funds to good use, sponsoring nine fan buses so students could watch the boys basketball team win the Division III state semifinals at TD Garden in Boston.
Booster Club President Cheryl Gaspar said that the fundraiser has been an impressive success.
"The community has been so generous," Gaspar said.
