Marion candidates to speak April 29
The Tri-Town League of Women Voters will hold Candidates’ Night on Wednesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. in the Music Hall. Candidates in contested races will speak about their views on major issues. There will also be a brief overview of the Town Meeting agenda and budget.
There will be four contested races this year for Selectmen, town moderator, Planning Board and School Committee.
Challenger Dale Jones will face incumbent Selectman Jody Dickerson.
After 35 years, David Titus will step down as moderator. Patricia McArdle and Matthew Nowick will vie for the gavel.
The Planning Board race has two openings on the ballot. Incumbents Stephen Kokkins and Steve Gonsalves will face challenges from Jennifer Francis and Todd Richins.
The Marion School Committee has two open positions and three candidates, Michelle Ouellette, Jessica Harris and David McDonald.
Two positions are unopposed. Ray Pickles will seek a new three-year term on the Board of Assessors and John Howard will run for another three-year term on the Board of Health. There are no candidates for the Open Space Acquisition Commission’s available seat.
Marion’s election is scheduled for May 15. Polls are located at the Benjamin Cushing Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at 465 Mill St. (Route 6) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
