Marion Art Center Players to debut new comedy
The Marion Art Center Players' summer production, “A Bad Year For Tomatoes,” by John Patrick will open on Thursday, Aug. 6 and through Aug. 7, 8, 14 and 15.
Rex McGraw will direct the two-act comedy in which actress Myra Marlowe (played by Cynthia Latham) attempts to get away from life's demands and write her autobiography in a small New England town. To keep her nosy neighbors at bay she invents a homicidal sister who occasionally escapes.
But trouble multiplies when the local handyman develops an affection for "Sister Sadie" (played by Myra in a wig) and the neighbor ladies try to save demented Sadie's soul. Myra gets rid of Sadie, saying she's gone to Boston, which leads to a murder investigation.
Tickets for this comedic play are $12.50 for members and $15 for general admission. Cabaret tables are available for reserved parties of four or more. Reservations are recommended. All shows start at 7:30pm.
