Meet the Artists

The public is invited to a reception in the reading room on Friday, July 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. to meet artists Libby Klim and Bernie Klim, Jr. An exhibition of their selected paintings will be on display at the library during July and August. Refreshments will be served.

MOBY Fair

On Saturday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is an opportunity for students and families to try out some fun science activities on the lawn of the library during Harbor Days. Pan for gold, pound flowers to make designs, try your hand at knot-tying and much more.

The activities are part of the natural science program called My Own BackYard developed by the tri-town libraries with a federal grant administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Enjoy a root beer float in the afternoon for free, too!

Go Fishing!

Fishing rods are available to check out from the library for one week with an adult library card. Salt water and freshwater poles are available.

Meet our Heroes: The Cape Cod Therapy Dogs

Meet certified therapy dogs and their owners on Thursday, July 23 at 1 p.m. Learn how they test potential therapy dogs and what the dogs can do. Learn about the difference between a therapy dog and a service dog. Come and see how these talented dogs are trained to help people. This event is intended for grades three and up. Register by calling the library at 508-758-4171.

Library Comic Con Features Special Guest Eric Fulford

Illustrator and comic artist Eric Fulford will be at the library on Saturday, July 25 at noon for a cartoon and comic-style illustration workshop. Sign up to learn some of the drawing techniques of the pros.

Comic Con rules all day on Saturday, so start organizing your stash of comics for the comic book exchange. Each participant in the exchange is eligible for the drawing of new graphic novels and more. There will also be Dr. Who Trivia and a chance to take a photo in the Tardis instant photo booth. This event is sponsored by New England Comics, Time Capsule Comics and The Boston Superheroes.

Curious About Barnacles?

Students in grades three through eight are invited to join naturalist Michelle Cusolito at the library on Tuesday, July 28 at 1:30 p.m. to learn more about the volcano-like shells that are those pesky barnacles. Investigate these live sea creatures first-hand. Sign up by calling the library at 508-758-4171.

Explore the Shore with the Tri-town Libraries and the Buzzards Bay Coalition

Join staff from the libraries and the Buzzards Bay Coalition at Shining Tides beach on Friday, July 31 to explore the sea life there. Dress for the beach and wear water shoes. Children are asked to register for one of two sessions, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. or 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Meet at Shining Tides at the end of Reservation Road off Route 6. Rain or shine. Call one of the tri-town libraries to register for this MOBY science adventure
