Police arrest Rochester man following golf course break-in
Police have arrested a 31-year-old Rochester man on charges related to a break-in and burglary at the Rochester Golf Course.
Michael Eldridge of Wordell Street was arrested in New Bedford last week with assistance from detectives in the Mattapoisett, Fairhaven and Acushnet Police Departments.
“This is another outstanding arrest resulting from local police working together and sharing information,” said Rochester Police Chief Paul Magee.
Police were called to the golf course at 7 a.m. on July 16 after the owner discovered the building had been broken into and cash was missing.
According to police, Eldridge has a lengthy arrest record and was identified using video taken at the scene.
After several days of surveillance, police arrested him Thursday morning on Coggeshall Street in New Bedford without incident.
Eldridge was charged with breaking and entering in the night time, malicious destruction of property over $250, malicious destruction of property under $250, breaking into a depository, larceny from a building, larceny over $250 and larceny under $250.
Eldridge was arraigned in Wareham District Court Thursday afternoon and is being held at the Plymouth County House of Correction.
