Falmouth man arrested for outstanding warrants, alleged drug possession

On Friday, Dec. 18 the Mattapoisett Police Department arrested Robert Demello, 21, of 7 Annette St., Falmouth on an outstanding warrant and narcotics charges. Officers received information that Demello was living with his girlfriend in Mattapoisett, and that he has an outstanding warrant for various charges, including four counts of illegal possession of a firearm and four counts of larceny.

During surveillance, officers observed Demello get in a car with an unknown individual. Police followed the vehicle and stopped it near I-195 on North Street. Demello was arrested on the scene and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a press release issued by the Mattapoisett Police on Friday afternoon.

Once Demello was placed into custody, officers conducted a search of his room at his girlfriend’s residence that produced heroin, a scale, additional drug paraphernalia and a large quantity of assorted prescription pills, according to police.

Additional charges were filed with the Wareham 4th District Court for possession of a class A controlled substance and possession of a class E substance.

The Mattapoisett Police Department received assistance in the arrest of Demello from members of the South Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s Detectives Unit and Plymouth County Sheriff K9 Unit.  Anyone with information regarding any illegal narcotics activity may provide anonymous information by emailing drugtips@mattapoisettpolice.com.
