7-Eleven rebrand of Tedeschi likely
Slurpees could be only a short drive away as 7-Eleven appears to be in preparations to rebrand the Mattapoisett Tedeschi.
Technically, the global convenience store chain already owns Tedeschi Food shops after purchasing the Massachusetts-based company’s 182 locations in 2015. Now, 7-Eleven, a Texas company, is rebranding each shop inside and out. At least one Cape Cod location has recently undergone the change, and according to Building Inspector Andy Bobola, new signage is already in the works for the Mattapoisett shop.
Bobola said he has received emails from the company about installing new signs, though no permit has been filed yet. He said the signs won’t be different in size from the current ones.
“Most people aren’t really going to even notice the change,” Bobola said.
The shop originally opened in 2008, and the same rules that applied to it then will continue going forward. Bobola said the hours of operation (6 a.m. to 11 p.m.) that were set by the Zoning Board will remain the same, and there will be the same expectation of cleanliness around the exterior, including daily pickup of stray garbage.
The change in branding doesn’t affect Dunkin’ Donuts operations from the town’s standpoint either, he said. Dunkin’ Donuts did respond in time for publication.
Although he said it was only a guess, Bobola expects the new signs to go up in one or two weeks. Monica Teves, the manager of the Mattapoisett store, said she hasn’t received any information about the rebranding yet.
