ORR teams head into playoffs
The regular season has come to an end for Old Rochester Regional High School’s sports teams, and for many the playoffs are underway.
Both the boys and girls cross country teams won the South Coast Conference Championship title over the weekend. This was the sixth straight win for the girls team and the first win since 2000 for the boys team.
The ORR football team lost its Division 3 South Quarterfinal playoff game on Friday night 27-0 to Dighton-Rehoboth. It was the Bulldogs’ first loss of the season after going 7-0. The loss moved the Bulldogs into a non-playoff bracket. The team’s next two games are against Somerset Berkley and at Middleboro.
The girls soccer team secured a spot in the playoffs after its successful regular season. The team went 13-2-1, with its only losses coming against Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School and Apponequet High School.
The field hockey team will face rival Apponequet in the MIAA Division 2 South playoffs. ORR went 11-4-4 in the regular season and are the nine seed. The teams meet Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
