Mattapoisett’s Dog Walkathon will return for a second year.

Jodi Bauer, whose son Freemin held the inaugural event last summer as part of his Eagle Scout project, got approval from selectmen on Tuesday. She said the event will be Aug. 26 this year, and that her son hopes the proceeds can go toward a dog park.

The event will begin at Center School.
