Art center hosts fundraiser, raises more than $15,000
Supporters of the arts gathered at a house on Moorings Road on Friday night to raise money for the Marion Art Center.
The annual fundraiser had more than 200 people attend for music, drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets to the event cost $75 a piece, meaning the art center raised over $15,000. Attendees were also able to make additional donations once inside the fundraiser.
“This is an exciting evening for us,” Executive Director Kim Teves said.
The fundraiser also served a second purpose – celebrating the art center’s 60th birthday.
“We have a lot to celebrate,” President Shelly Richins said.
The evening’s proceeds will benefit the art center’s ongoing operations, programming and restoration needs.
The art center also launched the Giving Gallery project. At the fundraiser there were 60 empty frames on bulletin boards – one for each year of the art center's operation. The Giving Gallery provides individuals, businesses or foundations with the opportunity to give back by supporting particular areas of operational need.
Anyone interested in donating to the Giving Gallery project can stop by the Marion Art Center during gallery hours.
