A waterfront home in Mattapoisett was heavily damaged by fire Tuesday morning.

The fire, which damaged a house on Meadowbrook Lane, was reported around 7 a.m. When Mattapoisett Fire Department arrived at the scene there was heavy fire showing, according to the department's Facebook page.

Firefighters were on the scene for hours, working to contain the fire and extinguish it.

The house was occupied, but no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The cause is under investigation by Mattapoisett Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal.

Mattapoisett EMS and Mattapoisett Fire responded to the scene, with assistance from Marion Fire Department, Rochester Fire Department and Fairhaven Fire Department.
