Nov 22, 2017

The Rochester Police Department—as well as an individual officer—received honors in recognition of their efforts to improve traffic and pedestrian safety throughout town.

The department received the AAA Silver Award at AAA's annual Community Traffic Safety Awards, held at the Boston Marriott Hotel in Burlington.

The Silver Award is given to police departments that participate in continued efforts to improve traffic and pedestrian safety.

The department received an overall honor, and one of Rochester's own received an individual award as well.

Officer Robert Nordahl was awarded the "Traffic Safety Hero Award" for his efforts to improve child passenger safety, and for overseeing the Police Department's child car seat program. Nordahl is a certified child restrain system technician, and is available to assist residents with the correct selection and installation of child safety seats.
