Sippican Woman's Club: 60 ways to trim a Christmas tree

Dec 9, 2017

Football. Driftwood. Tinsel, Coca-Cola, sailing, foreign countries.

The list might seem random, but all (and more) were represented when the Sippican Woman's Club celebrated one of the most visible icons of Christmas on December 9—the Christmas tree.

The club's Festival of Trees was held inside their headquarters at Handy's Tavern, where visitors could sip warm cider while admiring trees and watching the first snow fall out the windows. The festival was the first destination at this year's Holiday House Tour, which this year forbade photos inside the houses.

The tavern featured over 60 trees, ranging from under a foot tall to full-size. Several of the trees were available for sale, fully decorated. After noon, though, many already sported tags which read "sold."

Members of the Woman's Club met three times per week starting in October to finish all of the decorations.
