Rockin' around the Christmas tree: Old Hammondtown's Winter Concert

Dec 19, 2017

Old Hammondtown students broke out the flutes, saxophones and trumpets on December 14, for the school's annual "Winter Concert."

The sixth-grade Trumpet Band performed first, performing "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," followed by the school's Concert Band.

The Concert Band, under the direction of teacher Cara Kinney, started with a rendition of "Cardiff Castle," and then got patriotic, performing "Grand Old Flag." The students then played a medley of holiday carols, before ending with "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from "Mary Poppins."

Kinney then directed the school's Jazz Band in the song "Text Me." Several students played solos during the song, including Lowell Copps, Taylor Londergan, Beatrice Ashley, Julia Carvalho, Benjamin Frazier and Rylee Kouta.
