Children can read to Amos the Greyhound in January

Dec 30, 2017

Children of all ages are invited to Read to Amos the greyhound at Rochester's Plumb Library. Amos and his handler Ms. Holly are a certified team for Therapy Dogs International. They are also part of a Children Reading to Dogs program called “Tail-Waggin’ Tutors."

Amos, an 8-year-old greyhound, is a good listener, and children can make a five-minute appointment to read to him. Reading aloud to a dog is a great way for a child to become a more confident reader. Dogs are non-judgmental, and don’t care if the child makes a mistake in reading.

Registration can be done through the Plumb Library’s Event Calendar. It is required for this program, as space is limited. Once a child attends, they are  officially a member of the Amos Book Club.

Dates for January are Saturday, January 20, and Saturday, January 27, at 12:30 p.m.
