Families are invited to the Mattapoisett Library on Tuesday, January 16, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to learn how to use the library's new Orion StarBlast Telescope.

The Friends of the Mattapoisett Library purchased the telescope. Volunteer experts from the Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc. will present a brief slide show on the operation of the telescope. Afterwards, families will go outside to see the stars and planets.

The telescope will be available for check-out with an adult library card.

Door prizes will be available for children. The library notes that participants should dress warmly for outdoor viewing. Outdoor viewing is weather permitting.
