The Gleason Family YMCA is hosting the annual YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day®the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families on Saturday, April 28th 12 noon-2 pm. Healthy Kids Day is a powerful reminder not to let children idle away their summer days but instead, focus on physical and mental play. This FREE community event will feature a Touch-a-Truck program with vehicles from Wareham Ford, Wareham Fire Department, Town of Wareham Dept. of Natural Resources, and A.D. Makepeace. There will be a certified car seat inspector checking infant & toddler car seats that parents may drive up to have their seats checked or properly installed for the safety of their little ones. Bounce house, games, demo's and information from Wareham Recycling & LL Bean's fly fishing & Hiking program, will be part of this FREE community event. The Plymouth County Sheriff's Department will be onsite doing a Free Kid's Fingerprinting ID session and records will be given to parents to hold on to for future reference. The K9 Unit will also be visiting with a demonstration of the skills of their various dogs, a family favorite at Healthy Kids Day!

Also at this year's event will be the Scotts Pitch Hit & Run competition, which is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This program is FREE and is designed to give boys & girls ages 7-14 an opportunity to compete in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.
