Old Rochester Regional School District Superintendent Doug White received high marks from the district's School Committees in his two-year review, School Committee members said on May 29.

White is subject to an every-two-year review done by an evaluation subcommittee. His goals over the last two years, Old Rochester School Committee Chair Tina Rood said included expanding social and emotional learning in schools, increasing transparency and awareness of each school's budget, continue technological improvement and education, promote learning in a safe environment and expand family and community engagement.

While School Committee members judged that White was "proficient or exemplary" with regards to all goals, he was specifically lauded for his attention to creating a safe learning environment, and for reaching out and welcoming students' families into the school system.

"[White] doesn't just coordinate events," one review read, "but he works side-by-side with staff to welcome families."

Another review remarked on his safety leadership. "He promotes student safety, health and wellbeing, and has begun several health initiatives in collaboration with town partners."

"I guess what we want to say," said Rood, "is congratulations on a spectacular two years!"

White thanked the School Committees and the evaluation subcomittee for their hard work. "I thank you for your complete commitment to your students," he said. "It's a team effort. We're a very successful district and it's the result of everyone working together. Thank you for everything you do for the children of the tri-town."
