ROCHESTER — Old Colony boys soccer has made a habit out of winning this season, combining multi-score games and team chemistry to qualify for the MIAA State Tournament.  

“I think the success of this team has to do with how close of a group we have become and how hard we have worked to get where we are,” said captain Zachary Soucy. 

The 13-win Cougars, undefeated in the Mayflower Small League (7-0-1), qualified for the MIAA State Tournament for the fourth year in a row following their Oct. 9 win against the Southeastern Regional Hawks. 

The team showcased their potential this season by racking up the wins and scoring at will on multiple occasions. Notably, the Cougars put up two seven-goal games in this year, both coming against Bristol County Agricultural.

The team’s 13-2-3 record has also propelled the team to qualify for the Massachusetts State Vocational Tournament on Oct. 30, according to Coach Sergio Pedrosa. 

“We really buckled down and got together as a group to make this happen,” said captain Connor Halle. “This would not be possible without every individual including Coach Pedrosa who can really get this team motivated.”

Halle added that he is looking forward to seeing how the rest season turns out for the Cougars.
