Early voting in-person and by mail available in all three towns

Ahead of the State Primary election on Sept. 1, Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester will all be offering early voting in-person and by mail. In-person voting will still be available.

Marion

The will be offering three ways to vote in the Sept. 1 State Primary. There will be voting by mail, early voting in-person at the Town Clerk’s office, and regular voting at the polls. 

The deadline to register to vote in the State Primary is Saturday, Aug. 22.

The deadline to request a vote by mail ballot is Wednesday, Aug. 26; however, be advised that the town must mail voters the ballot and receive it back by Tuesday Sept. 1. Vote by mail ballots may be returned by mail, in person to the Town Clerk’s Office or in the locked drop boxes in front of the Town House on Spring Street.

In-person early voting will be held at the Town Clerk’s office at 2 Spring Street at the following times: Saturday, Aug. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, Aug 23. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and from Monday, Aug. 24 to Thursday, Aug. 27 from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and Friday Aug. 28 from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

For day-of voting, the polls at the Benjamin D. Cushing Center will be open from 7 a.m to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Masks are required and voters are asked to bring their own blue or black pen.

Mattapoisett

The Town Clerk will offer in-person early voting for the state Primary at Town Hall starting Aug. 22.

The hours are Saturday, Aug. 22 from noon to  8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 23 from 8 a.m. until noon. The town will continue in person voting Monday, August 24 through Friday, August 28, 2020 from 8 am until 4 p.m. On Tuesday, August 25, the Town Clerk’s office will be open for voting until 8 p.m.

The polls will be open at Old Hammondtown School for the State Primary on Sept. 1. The hours will be 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Catherine Heuberger, the town clerk, is also accepting requests for mail in ballots until Aug. 26, and will process requests as quickly as possible. If voters have already submitted requests but have not received their ballot, they should call the Town Clerk’s Office at 508-758-4100 x 2 or email Town Clerk, Catherine Heuberger at townclerk@mattapoisett.net.

Rochester

Early voting is available by mail and in person to all registered voters.  Unlike absentee voting, no excuse is required.

All Early Voting Sessions will be held at the Rochester Senior Center, 66 Dexter Lane,. Voters are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings and appropriate social distancing measures will be in place during these voting hours.

For Rochester voters who would like to cast their Early Ballots in the upcoming Massachusetts State Primary Election in person, the Town will hold Early Voting Sessions as follows: Saturday, Aug. 22 and Sunday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon, and Monday, Aug. 24 through Thursday, Aug. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Any voter who would like to cast an Early Voting Ballot by mail may do so by completing a Vote By Mail Application on the town’s website at sec.state.ma.us/ele/elepdf/2020-Vote-by-Mail-Application.pdf. All applications must be received on or before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
