Marion appoints four police officers full-time
MARION – The Select Board appointed four members of the Marion Police Departments to full-time, permanent positions, after probationary periods.
Police Chief Richard Nighelli appeared before the Select Board on Jan. 18 to ask that two sergeants, a lieutenant and a patrol officer be established as permanent members of the department.
The board appointed Connor Flynn as a patrol officer, Sean Day as a sergeant, Larry Savery as a sergeant and Jeffrey Habicht as a lieutenant.
Nighelli said that Habicht, in particular had been instrumental this past year in the operation and administration of the department, and that the lieutenant had been a pleasure to work with.
Nighelli also recently finished his first year in the department’s top role, but the position of chief does not have a probationary period.
